This week we started learning our first letter, Mm. For the first few weeks of school, we will work on a new letter for two weeks in a row. Later on after we get used to the routine, we will switch to doing one letter a week. For each letter we do a number of activities to explore the letter and sound. These activities usually include...
- an art project
- practicing printing the upper and lowercase letter
- making a little letter book containing pictures that begin with the sound
- learning a song for each letter
- reading an Alphachant book that contains many words beginning at this letter
- going on a "Letter Hunt" to locate this letter around the classroom (using our reading sticks)
This week we made monkey masks for our art project. We also learned a song about a monkey. See if your child can sing it to you. Next week, we will continue to explore this letter & sound.
