The last two weeks we worked on the letter Ss in our class. The children participated in different activities to practice this letter. Below are some of the activities they worked on...
- They went on a search around the room for the letter Ss using reading sticks
- They made a Ss book containing pictures beginning with this sound.
- They practiced writing this letter using sand, chalkboards, playdoh, and in their handwriting journals.
- They made silly sock puppets (which will get sent home next week).
- They learned a song and an alphachant for the letter Ss.
- They wrote a book about Sharing
- They made a Spider letter matching book
- They made star hats to wear to the Superstar Assembly
At the end of this week (Friday), they participated in a special assembly where Superstar came to visit. They listened to Superstar's Story about what it means to be a SUPERSTAR in school. A Capuano Superstar must look, listen, show, ask and tell. This story and a parent guide were sent home in your child's folder yesterday. Please make sure to read these with your child and reinforce the message in the book. They also learned a song about being a superstar. At the end of the assembly, they got star glasses to keep. We had a sensational time learning about the letter Ss.
