Hh is for Hats!

On Friday (at the end of our Hh week) the children got to wear a special hat to school.  They were very excited to show off their fancy hats to their friends.  We spent part of morning meeting "describing" our hats orally.  Each child needed to say one or two sentences about their hat.  They are learning that "describing" means to tell something about an person/place/thing.  This can means to talk about its color, shape, size, what its used for, how it feels or anything else about it.  They were able to come up with some good descriptions.  After, we sorted the hats in different ways (by color, by its use--to block the sun, to keep us warm, just for dress up, or by how it felt).  We had done a lot of sorting in the past during math time and the children had no problem when asked about ways to sort the hats.  During writing time, they needed to write one or two sentences about their hat and draw a picture of it.  Here is a picture of our class on Hat Day!

We are in the process of finishing up houses we made during our Hh week too.  Look for a future post about this project.
