Our class restaurant has officially opened. After brainstorming a list of names, it was voted that our restaurant would be called "The Number One Chef Restaurant."
The week before vacation we spent a lot of time learning about restaurants and the different roles of the people who work in or visit restaurants, including the chef, waiter/waitress and customers. They learned about some of the phrases or words that each person might use while in the restaurant (ex. "Can I take your order? or "Do you like your food?" or "Can I have the bill?"). Over the course of the week, the children got to visit the restaurant everyday and play the different roles. When they got to be the server or the chef, they were able to wear different costumes and use props. The children loved visiting the restaurant and exploring all of the materials there. The restaurant will be opened during "Center Time" over the next few weeks. Ask your child about the restaurant and what their favorite role to play there is.
